Newspaper In Education Foundation
The mission of the Institute, working through member newspapers, is to help teachers improve students’ standardized test scores and critical thinking skills through the use of quality NIE curriculum resources and student supplements that support educational use of their local newspaper.
Our character and civic education resources encourage students to make good life choices and become responsible citizens in their communities.
We also provide fundraising support, direct grants, grant processing services, and other useful NIE resources.
All curriculum, student supplements and NIE department resources are provided free of charge to NIE Institute members and may be downloaded from the Member Download Page.
Teachers of member newspapers may access all instructional resources FREE OF CHARGE on our nieteacher.org web site.
As part of these educational efforts and in support of NCASE, we have redesigned Celebrating a Century of Flight, a publication produced by a partnership involving NASA, the Air Force, and the US Centennial of Flight Commission. The redesigned supplement with newspaper lesson plans and NCASE and AIAA promotional information has been distributed to Newspaper in Education programs across the country for publication and/or web access in their local markets.
